From Leon Wilson, Project Manager, Old Denton Reconstruction:
I am providing a construction update for Old Denton Road to the HOA’s along the project.
Please see the information below.
At our weekly site meeting this morning we discussed the following items with the contractor:
Work to be completed before both sides of the roadway are open (one lane each side in some locations to allow construction of remaining items)
Sidewalk ramps at Crawford Farms Roundabout on other street connections
i. Contractor should have these completed by next week. Will also work on this area Saturday, May 2nd.
Roundabout & Parkway grading
i. Contractor should have this completed by next week. Will also work on this area Saturday, May 2nd.
Permanent Roadway striping
i. Will begin working sections of closed northbound lanes next week
Streetlight foundations at Roundabout
i. Installing some foundations today
ii. Brick pavers on the outside of the roundabout will be completed once foundations are installed
iii. Streetlights will not delay opening of the roadway
Brick pavers at Amador
i. Northbound side is complete
ii. Southbound side must be completed one-half at a time once the traffic is switched to both sides of roadway.
Permanent roadway signage for the roundabout
i. The roundabout has extensive signage to guide the motorists thru the roundabout
ii. The signage is being fabricated now with guidance to the fabricator to complete the roundabout signage first
iii. The contractor expects to start receiving signage the week of May 11th.
Traffic Switch to open both sides of the roadway (one lane each side in some locations to allow construction of remaining items)
We will meet onsite on May 12th to check to roadway is safe to open.
i. If roadway is safe to open I will send one week notice to HOA’s, schools, and others regarding the traffic switch.
1. We will also place electronic message boards onsite once we have a definite date for the traffic switch.
ii. I am providing a at least week’s notice so a tentative traffic switch date is May 19th or 26th.
iii. If we have extensive rainfall the date will be delayed.
We continue to press the importance of manpower and consistent workdays on the project.
Possible issues that could delay the tentative May 19th or 26th traffic switch
i. Weather-Extensive rain not a drizzle
ii. A delay in the roundabout signage-which we currently do not anticipate
Work after the traffic switch (one lane each side in some locations to allow construction of remaining items)
Section of pavement at Heritage Trace
i. Currently asphalt at the detour transition
ii. Will be replaced once roadway is open because the detour traffic is currently in this location.
Remaining striping on Old Denton and Heritage Trace intersection
Streetlights
Sodding/hydromulch
General cleanup
Final Inspection
i. May result in replacement of some work items at contractor’s expense.
